I originally did not know who Ernesto Guerra was until one night in May of this year. I was walking out of Cine El Rey on 17th street in McAllen, when I noticed a kind looking gentleman holding an accordion on the outdoor lobby area of the theater. He seemed like a nice enough guy so I started chatting with him inbetween his great accordion playing. Super talented guy, and a super nice guy as well. As soon as I got home, I started looking up information about him, and thanks to this forum and YouTube, I learned more of this great local musician. I've now become a big admirer of his work. Here is Ernesto playing with Ramiro Cavazos of Los Donneños.

I totally regret not getting his contact information. I wish I could have gotten it so I could have asked him if I could record videos of him and interviewed him. I would love to hear him play King Kong, I've heard about that polka on this message board.

I hope you meet him one day, totally cool guy and he is totally open to talking with fans.

I agree.  He's a great person.  I'm gonna see if I can get a retake on a picture session with him. I have a group picture with him when I played bajo sexto with him for awhile in the sixties.  Trying to arrange a then and now pic. Another member, Larry Ybarra, lives in Mission and another retired from Texas State Troopers.  Him, it's gonna be hard being that he is now playing bajo sexto with Eva Ybarra.
