I have some jazz tuned Fa reeds for a Hohner box, if you're interested.

That's a straight tuning (of the "wetter" variety). Straight tunings are those where none of the reeds have been swapped out, as done in asordinada, octavada, jazz, etc.... to raise or lower the pitch an octave or more.

Jazz Tuning Sample Soundbite

That's a Hohner accordion with a standard jazz tuning. What makes this sound different is that the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th button in each row is tuned an octave up.

otono Is there such thing as a "jazz dry tune"?
I've noticed some of the conjunto guys have that sort of that "jazz" sound on their boxes...

betsal, lcpl_sanchez got it right: that's from the top of the keyboard (closest to your chin).

lcpl_sanchez, that's exactly it, jazz tunings are dry. That's what makes chords sound so good on them (imho). That sample clip is from another box that I sold already. The jazz tuned Fa reeds that I have aren't currently installed in any box. Raul Moreno tuned them for me, and then they just sat cause I got a Fa tuned Baffetti... and that became my main Fa box. Let me know if I'm putting anyone to sleep with all this banter.

Ok, good to know, betsal, and not to worry. It's cool to know that others here are into these types of discussions. Saludos!

The Hohner in the video is tuned in the key of F# in between FBbEb and GCF thats why it sounds the way it does.

It's called El Huapango De Pepito

Found same video with the title of the song:

However, it also sounds very similar to Bonito Huapango by Ruben Naranjo y Los Gamblers, and this version would be more original.

This Huapango is played in the key of F#, on an F#/B/E accordion.
