I own two candelas bajos.  I have a standard and a BS3.  They play awesome.  Been playing for 3 years and all i have to do is put new strings and they sound great.  These bajos are a 5 all around.  For those who have not tried one, i suggest you go and play one and feel a good bajo.

I have two bajo quinto's. First one I had made in 1998 and the second around 03. I've taken my first one to add a star around the sound hole and my initial on the head stock. The first one I bought was made by Thomas and was some of his first bajos. The action and sound vary but quality is great. The first bajo sounds better than when I first bought it. Overall the bajos are great and would recommend to anyone but if your having one done, you might have to wait, there always busy.

Sorry guys but I tried a Candelas for about a month and it was pretty bad (not good). The sound wasn't all that and the action was worst. It was A two thousand dollar one. so maybe I should have bought a five thousand dollar one

I HAVE A VINTAGE LATE 50'S EARLY 60'S CANDELAS BAJO SEXTO AND LET ME TELL YOU GUYS, THIS BAJO IS AWSOME.  MADE BY THE ORIGINAL MAKER TOMAS' FATHER OR GRANDPA NOT SURE.  THE ACTION IS KINDA HIGH BUT BACK IN THE DAY THEY MADE THEM LIKE THAT SO THEY WOULD SOUND LOUD ACOUSTICALLY OR UNPLUGGED.  THE BODY IS BIG AND HEAVY BUT IT FEELS LIKE A TANK MADE TO LAST NOT LIKE THE NEWER ONES NOT THE SAME QUALITY.. I RECOMMEND A CANDELAS BUT FIND A USED ONE THE OLDER THE BETTER.

I agree with eddiedelnorte, I own a vintage (like eddie said 60's) and when people see it......."wow" they say, and when they play it........even better, everyone says that it is one of the best they've played, it might be because back then Candelas did put hear and soul into every bajo they did.

U know what they say wine and bajo sextos.... they get better with age.

BTW... did the bajos from back then were made with this high gloss laquer like some r made today? or they were just decorated and just left like that, bear wood. or maybe they put a little satin laquer and then buff it out.

Javier lleveselo al gathering pa echarle un OjO! va ir?

jflores29   I went into Dave's and tried both out.  They were not in the do not touch section.  There is one black sexto and the other natural quinto.  They sounded awesome.
