I know there has been plenty of discussion on the forum on Excalibur accordions. This accordion seems to be a newer model and very pleasing to the eye. It sells for around $925.00. Can anyone Excalibur-AW-Button-Blue--1-.jpg   comment on this particular model. Ram su amigo de foro!!

Search the forum for Jim Labbs music - this is their brand accordion - I don't know about the quality of the accordion but reportedly their service is as bad as their prices are cheap. this was a while ago and I dont know if they have improved their customer relations.

The service part is why I was curious. The accordion looks awesome in my opinion, however I have read so many negative comments all over the web on their service. I was hoping to see if per chance someone on the forum had purchased this accordion and had comments to post. Russ thanks for the reply. Your friend Ram Flores. Btw I broke down an ordered a Compadre of e-bay I am to receive it on next Thursday! Hopefully it arrives without issues. I decided on the key of E/A/D and the color is bright Orange! s-l1600.jpg

Excellent choice to buy Hohner. Although the Compadre is made in China, the quality is very high and made using the original machines from the old factory in Trossingen, Germany. Hohner now has a new state-of-the-art factory in Trossingen.

Furthermore, the actual reed blocks are manufactured in Germany. Hohner doesn't manufacture reed blocks in China. The reed blocks are sent to China for assembly in the Made-in-China range. (However, with the Corona Classic - made in Germany - an extra tuning step is performed while the reed blocks are inside the accordion).

E/A/D is a nice key, especially when playing polka's that modulate up-key during a song (G/C/F - that I have, can always sound too high when modulating up-key during a song). Also most of Ruben Vela's polkas are in E/A/D.

Thanks Dave nice comments are always nice to hear! I chose the E/A/D because there are a lot of songs that I like to sing to and I can accommodate them better in the key of E and D. I don't sing very well but I can carry a tune for when friends get together to jam. The polka thing is good because as a beginner I am learning a few easy polkas like La Barranca, Rosa Anna, La Repetida and a couple of Huapangos like El Tejanito, Bailamos Tia y El Lucerito. I have been playing for less than six months and am 62 years old so it is a little harder for me to learn since I have so many bad habits. I also have a Hohner Panther the one with the new grill.

Good question I think that is one of the things I am trying to figure out. P.S I think these are supossed to be made in Germany thus Excalibur Akordeon Werks (AW). Saw this on the Jim Laab website.
