I am very interested in purchasing a Gabbanelli 5 Switch in FA Model 400R Compact Version brand new.

Anyone have any feedback on the action, volume, weight, and quality of construction?

How is the mechanism?  Alloy metal?

Are you satisfied with the accordion if you own one?

What is your overall experience?

I ordered one when they started doing the compacts... The customer service was actually better with Mike than the regular people that answer the phones.. When I received it, it was in the wrong tono and the left hand strap and straps were the wrong color. Mike took care of it and shipping. I have the cagnoni reeds and Mike charged me like 400. I broke two reeds at about six months. Granite we play a lot of bar Friday, Saturday Sundays. The playability is awesome. It's smooth like butter. I wish the reeds were a bit louder like some other accordions. But I give the Mod 400R a 7 out of 10..It seems like it could be built a little stronger. But it's beautiful to play..

Great story!  I feel that accordions will wear and tear more if you are playing in hot humid places like small bars and playing outside.  That does affect the mechanism and reeds. Your Gabb must several years old since the price of reeds have gone up $700.  If you wanted to reeds made a mano you can get buy them.  Italo American Accordions sell them by special order. $1100 is the price when I called a few weeks ago.  The tipo a mano ones cost $700 with the blocks and tuned. My friend who has been playing accordion for a long time said that the a mano reeds are loud loud and will last a very long time.  I just might purchase a Hohner Anacelto 5 Shift Compact because they are the only ones that can prove they install a true a mano reeds and the action and mechanism is really playable and mech is solid.
