Hi y'all,

Wonderful of Gilbert and David to provide a dedicated forum for the discussion of virtual instruments on portable devices.

A few links to several websites I'm involved with that may be useful to everyone:

Hohner SqueezeBox product website:
http://www.tradlessons.com/HohnerSqueezeBox.html

Hohner SqueezeBox support site:
http://www.tradlessons.com/HohnerSqueezeBoxSupport.html

My video channel on YouTube (mostly for traditional Irish music instruction, but just added a playlist for videos of players on the Hohner apps):
http://www.youtube.com/tradlessons

My app catalog site:
http://www.tradlessons.com/apps.html

It's really been wonderful getting such a nice reception here. The friendly conversation here has been very encouraging and inspiring.

Cheers and many thanks,

Michael

Thank you for these wonderful apps, I am a beginner and this will help me on the go. Is there any way you can incorporate the or similar to the señor maestro program to learn scales to your apps.

It's something that many people have requested, and something that might make sense as a dedicated app.

Since you can only run one app at a time I think it makes more sence to added to your existing apps. Where the keys light up when your suppose to press them.

Hi Gato_negro,

Once you start adding teaching features and all that things get a lot more complicated and it takes a lot of work.  If I were to take this on in the future I'd want to put it in its own app rather than try to retrofit all the existing apps.

There is also the question of what is a fair price to charge for a teaching app vs. just the virtual instrument. If I spend many weeks/months developing the teaching features, I should be able to get some reasonable reward for the work rather than just give it away as a free update. Remember, these apps sell for $1.99, which is less than a large cup of coffee at Starbucks, and Apple keeps 30% of that.

Hey there Michael -
I don't know about anybody else but I can say that I would gladly pay around $10 for the teaching app.  Not saying that this is what you should charge, just giving you a little feedback.
I look at it this way.  I purchased the iPad when they first released the original 3g version.  Since then, I had been looking for a diatonic accordion app without any luck.  I knew I could probably learn to play but I would've loved to have been able to purchase an app first just to make sure I would really take accordion playing seriously before dropping big bucks on an actual instrument.
I wonder how many people have the hardware and would rather pay a few bucks to make sure it's something they would like to stick with and give it a try.
Then you have those that could be encouraged to buy the hardware justifying the purchase because of all of the other features as opposed to dropping big bucks on an instrument "just to see" if it's something they'll actually stick with.
Hope this helps!
