Hello everyone! Hope everybody is doing well. I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone can answer. It would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to buy an accordion in EAD that has been dry tuned. I don't have the $ for a new Corona. I was looking into either a new Panther or Compadre...or perhaps a used Corona in EAD if I can find one. I know Panthers are not available in EAD. So my question is this: Would it be better to buy a new Compadre already in EAD and have it only fine tuned or could I spend less and buy a Panther in FBbEb and have the key changed? If I had this done, would it significantly weaken the reeds? What would you recommend?

I have both a Panther in GCF ( the one with the new grill) and a Compadre in FA. The Panther is tuned Asordinada and has a cool sound, although I did loose some volume with the new tuning. The Compadre in my opinion is a step up from the Panther in that it is louder in volume, has the adjustable bass strap. The buttons are easier to press. Just my humble opinion.[biggrin][biggrin]

I think the reeds in the panther are the same reeds in the   compadre, Listen to both side by side, save money and get the panther tuned the way you want it EAD .

I did not mean to say the reeds were different. My understanding is that the Panther, Compadre and Corona ll, not the Classic all share the same reeds. However for some reason ( some say the grill is more open) the Compadre does produce more volume. Check out some of the other posts regarding the Compadre., but go with your gut and what you can afford.[biggrin]
