I would score/rate Jimenez, (i have Electric Quinto) a 5 in all categories. I was continuously sent pictures throughout the build process and can attest to fine craftsmanship. The action is nice and low and very easy on the fingertips, the sound is true conjunto. A friend of mine has a Macias '73 (old man) and he likes using my Bajo when we jam, but i also know his Bajo is BAD. I have played their full size Bajo's and my rating extends to their full line. Their customer service is what can draw you to them, they give you great personal attention.

(5) Quality – Jimenez makes one of the best bajo sexto/quinto in the market.
His keen understanding for detail, and the top grade woods he uses, makes the
Jimenez bajo one of my favorite bajos.

(5) Sound – Projects incredible sound. Like Macais & Reyes, Jimenez
has his own signature bracing that enables a great quality sound.

(5) Design - . When you touch and feel a Jimenez, its like holding a custom
Gibson or Martin guitar. Jimenez has studied with some of the best luthiers
and uses some of the techniques to make quality instruments.

(5) Price – reasonable since it takes 6 – 8 months to make one
bajo.

(5) Customer service provided – Layo Jimenez and his son Jaime Jimenez
are great people and willing to make the best product to your specification.

I own a Jimenez Bajo Quinto, and I give their bajos 5's in all categories. The quality of the bajo is perfect. The sound is the best that I have ever heard. The design is awesome and they have the best finish that I have ever seen on a bajo. Price is good, you get what you pay for or in my opinion you get more. Customers service is excellent, Mr. Jimenez and Jaime are very good when it comes to taking care of their customers. I have tried many bajos, and Jimenez blows them away in every way possible. I love my Jimenez so much, that I just ordered a sexto. This is just my opinion, hope it helps.

First off I wanna say thank you to the Jimenez family for giving me the chance to own one of there Bajos! I got a used bajo about 10 years old or so that I had slightly fixed. The bajo had Formica on the headstock that was taken off and some scratches removed from the back. This bajo by far is a 5 all around sound is very vintage and loud. The action is amazing super low and easy to play! I have to say I would rank Jimenez Bajos along with Macias amd Reyes very well made a must have for a collecters!

I believe that is the Jimenez bajo that he is rating. The bajo looks well crafted and finished. The woods that Jimenez uses on their bajos look unique and have detail in their grains. I would like to get one someday when I have enough money.  Great looking bajo cali_style

The bajo in the pictures is the bajo I'm reviewing. This bajo was put up for sale here on are forum a while back and I bought it for $900.00. Mr. Jimenez lowered the action and took the white Formica off the headstock. The back had some scratches and that also was fixed my Lace pickup was also installed by Mr.Jimenez. This bajo is very beautiful I love the pickguards and the ivory inlays on the fretboard I put my last name on the headstock.... Very well made Bajos that sound as good as they look....

Yea bajoquinto26 I think I really robbed Mr. Jimenez because for 9 bills that's nothing for a bajo of this caliber. I count my blessings everyday.... Gracias

Hey Cali Style I saw you got a Lace El Senor pick-up on your bajo (or what looks to be), can you give me some feedback, do you like and what's up with the sound.

Joser76, well I love my Lace pickup! It gives you a nice vintage sound with the volume around 7 or 8 similer to a DeArmond in a way. Anything above that the sound gets to clean and clear for my liking. It has no feed back and no hum very nice control, and I use a Fender 65' Twin Reverb with a Custom 15 speaker that with my DeArmond gives me some feed back and hum if I'm to close to the amp and have the volume high. Overall if you want a nice warm vintage sound then go for it you won't regret it especially if you have a Tube amp. I hope this helps....
