OK, here's a question for those of you who have the iPad versions of the SqueezeBox apps.

Currently you can put multiple fingers (up to 10) down on the button board and slide them all together.

I'm considering a fundamental change in the interface to make things more reliable and faster that would require removing the ability to slide between buttons.

Not saying that's necessarily how it's going to go down, but just wanted to solicit your thoughts, because its looking more and more like there may be a timing issue in Apple's most recent audio code for iPad and iPad 2 related to the rapid multi-sample switching during button slides.

I think getting rid of sliding might make things a lot more robust and faster, but wanted to get your feedback.  You would play and release the buttons like a real instrument, but would not be able to slide your fingers from one button to another and have it stop playing on the button being moved off and then start playing the button being moved to. You would have to remove your finger from the screen and then touch the new button to get it to sound.

This doesn't seem to be as much of an issue on the iPhone/iPod Touch versions (not sure why), this would only apply to the iPad and iPad 2 versions.

Again, just an idea, really want your feedback as I'm having to deal with issues Apple has created with this last iOS release, there may be some tradeoffs that have to be made.

No need to change sliding, I'm pretty sure I found the root cause last night and came up with a work around for an issue in Apple's code.

I'm going to be testing an iPad 2 fix the next few days and if it continues to go well, submitting updates to all the apps on Saturday, April 2. It should hit the store by April 10 as a free update.
