I want to thank Ricardo Cruz, Otoño Lujan, and Skyler Fell for assisting Hohner as accordion demonstrators. I will be posting more pictures and video clips of Flaco's performance.

Gilbert, as always great pictures.  I really need to make it a point to check this out next year.  Looks like Hohner had an incredible presence at NAMM.  Send me pics if you want me to post them for you.

Just what is NAMM and where was this showing held??? Please let us know if this is a yearly event and for how many days is it held...I would have loved to be there.

Still thinking of making it for the San Antonio Conjunto Festival. I hope it doesn't fall on the days that our two grand daughters are getting their degrees.

One graduates from her 4 years at the Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York in May..   The older one gets her Law Degree from Washington Law School in St. Louis, MO also in May, different days apart.

Saludos Chuco:

National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) is one of the largest music products trade show in the world, its only major competition being the Musik Messe in Frankfurt.  It is held every January in Anaheim, California, at the Anaheim Convention Center.  The show has approximately 1,560 exhibitors and a record-breaking 88,100 attendees.  The NAMM Show is not open to the general public, only to members of the music trade.

(Wikipedia)

You will see many great musicians as well such as Gene Simmons who stopped by the Hohner booth this year and Stevie Wonder who was at the Hohner booth last year.

Would it be like for someone that plays in a group or does one have to have Flaco Jimenez fame?

I don't believe all the individuals I see in the pictures are Hohner Accordion dealers. Just an innocent question. They need some of these shows in deep south Texas.

That is correct Albert,  there are a lot of musicians that are invited by manufacturers and dealers to try out the new products that are coming out this year.  So you will see a lot of people who have something to do with the music industry that are invited.  I invited Otono, Ricardo, and Skyler to assist with the Hohner accordions this year.

I did however meet with dealers and distributors from all over the world.  Hohner accordions is just one of the many lines that they carry in their stores.  Not all that attend NAMM are there for Hohner only, they are there for Fender, Gibson, Tama, Peavey, and the list goes on.

The gentlemen wearing the cowboy hats are from Mexico and were invited by Fender to play at their booth.

Thanks for the clarification, Gilbert
I didn't mean to sound annoyed by my question. I know they have these sort of conventions for product dealers only, especially in Las Vegas.
Hey, Eltigre, I luv ya man. Have a good day!

Hello everyone!

It was a great pleasure to meet Gilbert and the people involved with the Hohner line. I was lots of fun playing the different Hohner accordions from the booth and I also had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world.

Squiz1box,

I think there is a summer NAMM show that may be held in Texas but I am not 100 percent positive that it is held in texas every year.

Saludos!

Ricardo

Gilbert, what can you tell us about the Flaco Jimenez Accordion? Will it be available to the public? What besides the color makes this accordion unique? Will the price be comparable to the Hohner Classic? Does it come in other colors?
Thanks, David

Looks like a great event.  I missed it this year.  I can kick myself since Flaco was there.  Please bring him back next year.

Hey there Gilbert,
Thank you for having me come and play at the Hohner Booth. I really enjoyed meeting all the great folks from Hohner USA and from Germany. I also loved playing some especially artfully crafted,  high quality piano accordions including the re-released Hohner Atlantic V, the Morino IV "Slavko Avsenik RETRO" purple accordion, and the awesome beginners model "Bravo" 72 bass.
All of these piano accordions and more are available for sale at my shop in San Francisco! Check out our new online store.
Awesome photo's! Thanks again!

Seems to me that if the NAMM was to be held in conjunction with a Tejano/Conjuntofestival, just think of the possibilities! "man oh man"
