Once again another successful year at NAMM. I want to thank the following for assisting this year with this incredible event. Gigi Rabe (Accordion Diva) for assisting with the presentation of our piano accordion line. Gigi is a master accordion player who lives in LA. She teaches accordion and is an incredible performer. Ricardo Cruz plays the three-row button accordion and  also performs with different bands. This is Ricardo's 2nd year helping us with the diatonic accordion presentation. Otono Lujan another incredible diatonic accordion player who has his own band (Los Pochos) and gives accordion lessons as well. Jessica Fichot is one of our endorsees and it was a pleasure having her hang out with us at the booth. And last, our main performers, Los Texmaniacs: Max Baca, David Farias, and Lorenzo Martinez. The Texmaniacs played on Friday and Saturday and the crowd went wild with their traditional canciones from their latest CD Borders y Bailes. Thank you all! Gilberto

Hohner gets it!  It is not just about the product (accordions), it's about the musicians who play these instruments.  There are many companies that make accordions, but few focus on the musicians that actually play them.  Great job Gilberto for showing us how it's done.

Hello All!

I would encourage everyone to try the Corona II Extreme. It is the black accordion with the crown logo you see in the pics. The new Extreme line is as light-weight as the Corona Classic but has 34 pearloid buttons and the action is "as smooth as butter." I really enjoyed the new upgrades to the Hohner line.

I also got to see the Hohner custom shop accordions. The pictures do not do them justice. The accordions are beautiful. The paint on the skull and American flag model have small metallic flakes which are not visible in the pictures and they also include the upgraded dynamic action.

I also tried some of the piano accordions and they also play smoothly and have great sound. They also had a custom painted piano accordion that people can see Gigi playing. It's black with yellow and red splashes. That one also has a metallic finish that looks very impressive.

This years winter NAMM was a huge success. It's always fun to see old friends and to make new ones. I was glad to see Karlitos, his brother, and Guenino Baffetti. Max Baca, David Farias and Lorenzo Martinez, are down to earth and great musicians. They spent lots of time talking and meeting with their fans at the booth. Mario Rosas, Carlos Rosas, and most of the Rosas brothers. Sergio, the accordion player from Grupo Control. Jesse, the part-time drummer from Inesperado and many others.

As you can tell by now, I was very impressed by the Hohner improvements. I would suggest that anyone looking to purchase a new accordion in the near future to go out to their local dealer and give the new Hohners a try. I think you will like what you feel.

Saludos!

Ricardo

I missed it this year.  It looks like there was a great turn out.  I found this link on the NAMM Show as well.

Are the Fun Line accordions *finally* available in N. America??

I had some correspondence with Hohner France almost 10 yrs ago and they were hesitant to ship to the US. I guess maybe it would have been stepping on HohnerUSA's toes at the time??
