Guadalupe Reyes out of Gregory, Texas made these great bajos for many years.  El maestro is no longer with us and, to my knowledge, there is no one in the family who continued the Reyes tradition.

Indeed well made bajos.

I have to score the reyes a 5! on all categories not only because i own one but it is a very well made bajo-i have a quinto purchased it in 1994 and i have never loosened the strings and always keep it tuned and the action is still the same as when i bought it in gregory portland, tx- Mr Reyes said his bajos were made to stay tuned all the time .my uncle oscar vela from the band Los Tremendos Hermanos Vela out of Corpus Christi was his compadre and he made me a custom bajo with cutaway and black micas for $550 dollars i still think it is a bargain iam very happy with it and i get very nice compliments on it. Great Bajo! I now want to try a jimenez they look awesome-haber si se hace.

The bajo player for Los Dominos & Bernardo Y Sus Compadres (Sunny) plays a Reyes quinto. He told me Alberto Macias has worked on it and deemed it as good as the best.

Here are some pictures of my dad's Reyes. The full bodied Reyes recently had its action lowered by Mr Augustin Escobar of Shertz, TX (210-658-3137). It also now sports hand-made brass Cascavel strings crafted by Mr Escobar. It also has a Fender Lace Sensor pickup.

Hola Tocayo, como estas? Yes ,it is a sexto, but they took off the top strings. Johnny Rodriguez, our bajo player has a Guadalupe Reyes quinto that was made for him by Mr G.Reyes a few years back. He had the name Mi Gusto put on the fret board ,looks pretty neat.

I will have to give Reyes Bajos a 5 all across the board. My first bajo was a Reyes that I ordered from him back in '94 for $550 (what a steal). it took about 6 months to complete. I took it once to San Antonio when mi compadre was having one made. Don Alberto Macias was impressed with its craftmanship and sound.

i bought my bajo used. i drove all the way to rio grande city to buy it because it belonged to an older gentleman that played norteno in the valley and mx. he added some weird looking pickguards on it, but i eventually removed them. the sound, feel, and weight of it is awesome. many other musicians that have tried it say its one of the best they've ever played. its pretty old and has some wear and tear on it. but still gets the job done.

I am a proud owner of a Reyes and the sound is very loud it is kind of high but I think that's how they use to make them before...

steve jordan's old accordions sound awesome, so i'm sure some old bajos sound awesome too.
