Rottweil is the oldest town in southwestern Germany, in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Rottweil is located between the Black Forest and the Swabian Alb and is a small town of about 25,000 inhabitants with a medieval center. It is mainly known for its carnival (or also called Fasnet). Rottweil was founded by the Romans in AD 73 as Arae Flaviae and became a municipium, but there are traces of human settlement going back to 2000 BC. Roman baths and a mosaic of Orpheus (ca. AD 180) date from the time of Roman settlement.

The present town became a ducal and a royal court before 771 and in the Middle Ages it became a Free Imperial City in 1268. In 1463 the city joined the Swiss Confederation, with which it was closely aligned for several centuries. Both its status as free city and its alliance with the Swiss Confederacy were eventually lost with the conquest of the region by Napoleon in 1803. The appearance of the town has changed very little since the 16th century.

GILBERT, WOW!! Thanks for such great History and great photos..There is a city in southern California by the name of Solvang, Swedish City, which has many a building as shown in your pictures...

I happened to hit Solvang by accident/we always drive around wherever we are. We were living in Oceanside at the moment. We went to Tijuana, when it was safe, lol..on our way back, took a wrong turn and VOILA, just happened that they were having a great "FEAST" during that Saturday or Sunday.

We lucked out. All were dressed in their Swedish attire and their music, as I remember it, was so very great.

I have been trying to go to Germany since the 70s when my wife's sister was stationed there but she never wanted to go anywhere but  visit our children in Utah and California. She said that we would visit other countries when we retired.

We have been retired for almost 20 years and where do we go?  To California and Utah, lol..

Gilbert, again, thanks, we always appreciate what you do for us...BTW, that music was far too complicated for me, lol....Chuco

Gilbert, those pictures look awesome! What type of camera do you use? I recently purchased an SLR Nikon D90 but am still learning how to use it.

Xavi,

I use a Sony Cybershot 7.2 Mega Pixels.  I've had this camera for a couple of years and it is does the job for me.  I don't know much about the settings.  I just take the shots with the pre-programmed settings and hope for the best.
