So, I've had this issue with my Compadre for a while, and it's getting annoying. There's a note, the 7th note on the Eb row of my Fa accordion, that will occasionally play itself.

Whenever i play at higher volumes, or for a prolonged timed, the note (F) will squeak. Whenever I play the note, it has a a slight ring to it, like an echo-ey flanger effect.

If I'm playing a lick on the upper register that involves the note, it will start ringing itself. If I pull on the bellow slightly, sometimes it will also sound the note, quietly.

What is this problem? is it easily fixed?

I'll see if I can post a video of the sound it makes.

John there is a number of things that will make a note sound by itself. First I would make sure the button is not binding or touching on the hole on the keyboard as to make the mechanism stick very lightly to prevent valve from closing completely on the sound board. Next take grill off and check that note's valve pad for correct alignment, sometimes it is not centered on holes to reeds or they can be off from top to bottom and let the note play. Another thing that could be happening is under the fingerboard cover. You will have to take cover off and check to see that mechanism is not touching each other and making that note play when you press on adjacent buttons. I have also seen that button height is high and metal arm will hit bottom of fingerboard cover very slightly and will also make it play.

Danny this are some of the problems that I have found I'm sure that there could be others. You work on a lot of accordions so you probably know of some.By the way do you still have that older hohner we talked about trading for the Corso at the conjunto Festival? Juan

SO I found the problem. You were predictions were correct, it was actually one of the sound holes was only partially covered. Sometimes, the little felt pads attached to the buttons would go off center, and cause the note to play. When I pushed it again, it always "reset" itself to the correct position.

the question is, how can I adjust the arms without breaking it?

Please and thank you, my OCD is driving me crazy.

John you can use a pair of needle nose pliers to bend the arms but you need to be careful and do it a little bit at a time so you will not bend it all up. You may need to bend it at a couple of places to align the pad so it covers the holes.Take your time and do it slow.

So I got some needle nose pliers and fix the arms, and now it sounds good as new.

It's so weird playing now, not hearing that annoying "feedback" from the other note.

Lol, it's like living in a haunted house after an exorcism, I'm just sitting here playing...waiting for something to happen, haha
