Due to the overwhelming popularity of the GCF-Mini app for the iPhone/iPod Touch, I've just completed and submitted to Apple FBbEb-Mini in Blue, and EAD-Mini with the Flag of Mexico graphics.

Both apps have the same features (Dry/Wet reeds, shift select) as the GCF-Mini and should be available for the iPhone/iPod Touch before the end of March!

Michael,

Do you sample real accordions for the sounds? Are they synthetic sounds?

Thanks,

Noe

They are all real sounds from a real instrument. A couple of years ago I recorded every note in very high quality of each of the three reed banks of an instrument I borrowed from a friend for a project I'll describe later in this message. Those per-button audio samples became the basis for all of my accordion apps.

I've done this for nearly all of my apps, the sounds are all from instruments I own and play or have borrowed from friends, whether it is concertina, accordion, Uilleann pipes, or wooden flute. Gives them that "handmade" quality. :-)  The only samples I've had to procure from someone else are for the Scottish piping apps, I partnered with ePipes.co.uk for those.

Interestingly, I did the accordion sample recordings long before I had any thoughts of doing iPhone/iPad apps.

Originally I had a wireless Wakker MIDI  Anglo concertina:

and was using Kontakt from Native Instruments on a laptop as the sound module.  I built several sets of samples for both accordion and several concertinas for this environment.  When I started getting into writing apps, I already had all the sounds from this early experiment to use as a starting point with no issues of licensing as they are my own recordings.
