EXCUSE ME FOR BEING IGNORANT, BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT A CASCABEL INSIDE YOU GUITAR. ISN'T A CASCABEL A RATTLE SNAKE!! I HAVE ENOUGH TROUBLES WITH PICAME TARATULA!!

I got a casabel....not the snake, not the bajo but the actual rattle form a rattle snake. No I do not use it in my bajo.  I don't know how would it be if I but a rattle in it.

All of my Bajos have rattlesnake rattles inside. It is an old folk legend for good luck and to keep the mice from going inside them! I personally think that they make my Bajos have a sweet sound I will always have them inside my Bajos!

I HEARD AND READ TODAY THAT THE RATTLES INSIDE THE RATTLER ITSELF PRODUCE MICROSCOPIC ION MOLECULES THAT ARE ENERGIZED BY THE MAGNETIC ENERGY THAT THE PICK UP PRODUCES AND WILL SEND ELECTRIC SHOCKS THROUGH THE GUITAR NECK AND SHOCK YOU.

I've never placed a cascabel in my bajo quinto, but I do put one in my acoustic guitars and to tell you guys the truth somthing about the cascabel enhances the acoutics and you get a full sound.  That is an old skool trick that my dad taught me and in mexico most of the viejones play with a cascabel in there guitars.

I too have heard that it enhances the sound.  Never tried it though.  Like Penasoccer- there aren't any rattlesnakes in Illinois...not that I have heard of anyway.

The old Guerrero Bajo Quinto I refinished had a Cascabel in it.  I wondered about it to until some bajo veteranos told me it was a old tradition.

When I moved to MA, I was told there were no black widow spiders here. Well, we had an old meter reader on the ground on the side of the house. Didn't work anymore so I figured I would hide a spare house key in there.

Opened the lid and WOW!! Jumped back. It was full of, yes, "Black Widow" Spiders. I know for a fact that there are no rattlesnakes here because it's too darn cold, lol...

My dad would put a cascabel inside of his Macias and he said it made the bajo sound nicer and sweeter.  (As if you could make a Macias sound nicer and sweeter than it already is)    But, that's what he would say!

Finally tried it.  I put a cascabel inside my Guerrero.  Didn't really hear much of a difference though.  A little more rattle, but very little....that I can hear anyway.
