In the future I would like to buy a 2 tone accordion.

Who makes the best quality 2 tones?

Better yet, is there any downside to a 2 tone versus buying 2 separate boxes?

If it makes you happy, do it.

Well 2 tone boxes usually don't sound as loud and clear
as a 1 tone box.

I also prefer the 5 switch (single key/tone) accordions over the two tones.  The 5 switch accordions do sound a lot louder and cleaner but it's a pain in the rear to have to keep switching accordions on stage.  I currently own a full size two tone and like the idea of only having to carry one accordion.  However, the weight has become an issue for me so I will be downsizing to a compact two tone.
